September 2010 Pastors Perspective

Summer 2010 has been very difficult for our family.  First, Sue’s father, David Lamm, went home to be with the Lord and then my father, Lloyd Rockwell, also received his heavenly reward just a few weeks ago.  As many of you know the grieving process brings many emotions.  You have shock, denial, sadness, loneliness and many other feelings that come when someone leaves this side of glory.  I have heard it said many times, “I don’t know how people make it when they lose a loved one without the Lord,” and I couldn’t agree more.

A scripture that has been giving me strength and hope during these trying times is Psalms 107:19-22 where it says, “Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.  He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.  Let them give thanks to the Lord for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.  Let them sacrifice thank offerings and tell of his works with songs of joy.”

As a pastor, I have used this scripture a hundred times in my messages through the years but for the first time I really understand what complete healing means.  The bible says, “He sent forth His word and healed them,” which I’ve interpreted a physical healing, and there’s no doubt in my mind God heals our bodies, but I want you to clearly see the underlined part of this verse, where it says, “he (God) rescued them from the grave.”

This means God not only heals our bodies physically, but he also heals and rescues us from the pit of the grave.  Talk about a marvelous healing.  Wow!  Because of my relationship with God, ‘there ain’t no grave gonna keep this body down.’  I don’t have to fear dying because “I know my Redeemer lives and He’s already conquered death and the grave.  Hallelujah!   Sue and I had fathers who knew the Lord and because of their relationship with Jesus, they are now both walking streets of gold.  THEY HAVE RECEIVED THEIR HEALING!

We also want to say, a big “Thank You!” to our church family who has stood with us during this time.  Your cards, words of love, meals, prayers, and generosity have overwhelmed us and brought healing to our hearts.  You are the best church any pastors could ever want.  We love & appreciate you.

August 2010 Pastors Perspective

I can’t believe that summer 2010 is already two thirds over.  Soon the kids will be back in school and hopefully the summer heat will give way to cooler temperatures in the Valley.  Sue and I had a wonderful vacation in July visiting a variety of places throughout the county.  It always amazes me how [...]

June 2010 Pastors Perspective

It is often said that prayer moves the Hand of God, to some extent that is true; however, the truth is prayer moves us closer to God.  Prayer is essential to the believer because it is through prayer that God responds to those who call upon Him.  C.H. Spurgeon noted that in Matthew 14:30 Peter [...]

May 2010 Pastors Perspective

Hoping in the Return of Jesus Christ He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! (Revelation 22:20) Come, Lord Jesus!  This has been the cry of God’s people throughout the ages.  As Christians, we see and feel so acutely the pain and sorrow of the world.  We [...]

April 2010 Pastors Perspective

THE MESSAGE OF EASTER Philip never felt like he belonged. He was pleasant enough but he looked a bit different and sometimes seemed unusual to his eight-year-old classmates.  In his Sunday school class several weeks before Easter, Phillip’s teacher introduced a special project. He gave every member a plastic “egg”–the kind pantyhose used to come [...]

March 2010 Pastors Perspective

2 Sam 5:24-25 says, “When you hear a sound like marching feet in the tops of the mulberry tress, be on the alert! That will be the signal that the Lord is moving ahead of you to strike down the Philistine army.” Dearheart, there is no doubt in my mind that “God is on the [...]

January 2010 Pastors Perspective

We are in the midst of an exciting week here at Harvest Church as the drama production of “Heaven’s Gates – Hell’s Flames,” an outreach event targeted to reach the lost for Christ, is being presented each evening.  We have seen filled-to-capacity crowds, many visitors and invitees, and most importantly, we have seen our altars [...]

PASTORS PERSPECTIVE 2009 is about to come to a close but before it does I wanted to take these moments to say “Thank you” to all who work so diligently in the ministry at Harvest Church. November 2009 – Pastors Perspective

Recently during devotions I was reading Psalm 26:6-8 which says, “I scrub my hands with purest soap, then join hands with the others in the great circle, dancing around your altar singing God-songs at the top of my lungs, telling God-stories.  God, I loveliving with you; your house glows with your glory.”   MESSAGE BIBLE When [...]
